Mir Space Station

"Mir" ("Salyut-8") is the Soviet (later - Russian) orbital station of the third generation which is a complicated multi-purpose research complex. It was launched in February 1986; in 23 March 2001 it was sunk in the Pacific Ocean. Since 1995 the station started to be visited by foreign crews. A total of 104 astronauts from 12 countries worked at the station.

The composition symbolized the unity of human being with the world and the connection between the past and present; the face value of the coin "500 ТЕҢГЕ"; trade mark of Kazakhstan Mint; the inscription of "Ag 925 14.6 gr. Та 26.8 gr." defining the metal which the coin is made of, its fineness and weight; two inscriptions "ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ" and "REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN".
Reverse: 
The Image of the space station “Mir”; “Mir” station emblem at upper sector; the name of the coin is indicated in Kazakh "МИР" ҒАРЫШ СТАНЦИЯСЫ", and in English "SPACE STATION "MIR", year of coinage “2012”.
