Date of issue: 2 June, 2007. Saint Ascension Cathedral of the city of Almay is not only a great Orthodox sanctuary of the Semirechie region, but outstanding piece of architecture. Notable by sharp harmony of architecture shapes and proportions among other architecture monuments in Central Asia, this Cathedral is a striking example of achievements in architecture of that period. Built at the beginning of XX century with the usage of the most modern techniques of the age, this cathedral stood the test of destructive earthquake in 1911.

Obverse: 
Obverse: The State Emblem of Republic of Kazakhstan is placed in the center of the coin. On the circumference an inscription "500 ТЕҢГЕ" indicates coin's face value with inscriptions " ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ " and "РЕСПУБЛИКА КАЗАХСТАН". Inscriptions are divided by dots.
Reverse: 
Reverse: An image of Saint Ascension Cathedral of the city of Almay. The name of the coin in Kazakh "КАФЕДРАЛЫҚ ШІРКЕУ" and Russian "КАФЕДРАЛЬНЫЙ СОБОР" is placed on the upper part in circumference with the trade mark of Kazakhstan mint. To the left the two-line inscription “АЛМАТЫ 2007” means the location of the cathedral and the year of coinage. "Ag 925 31,1 gr." at the bottom means metal, fineness and weight of the coin.
