Mykhailo Ostrohradskiy

The coin is dedicated to 200 Years since the birth of Mykhailo Ostrohradskiy  (24.09.1801-01.01.1862), an outstanding Ukrainian scientist-mathematician, a member of five Academies (Paris, St-Petersburg, Rome, Turin and USA) who was born in Pashenivka villiage of Poltava region. His main works are dedicated to mathematical analysis, theoretical mechanics and mathematical physics.
In circulation since August 20, 2001.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse at the centre there is a depiction of an integral curves group in the frame of reference, as well as the Small State Emblem of Ukraine, a four- line inscription: УКРАЇНА, 2001, 2, ГРИВНІ  and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Myhkailo Ostrohradskiy; to the left there is the fractional and rational function integral (the integration method of such functions is named after him), to the right there is a half-circular two-line inscription:1801-1862, МИХАЙЛО ОСТРОГРАДСЬКИЙ.
