Yaroslav the Wise

The coin is dedicated to Yaroslav the Wise (1015-1054), the Great Kyivan Prince and statesman, during whose reign the Kyivan Rus had strengthened and expanded its borders; the international position of the state was reinforced; Kyiv became the centre of empire; legal code of Old Rus state was developed; old-Rus culture had reached the peak of its development. In circulation since February 26, 2001.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse within the frame of old-rus ornamental pattern recreated from the pattern on the Yaroslav the Wise's sarcophagus, there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine and the conventionalized inscriptions: 2001 / УКРАЇНА / 10 / ГРИВЕНЬ, as well as the Mint logo, Ag 925, the metal standard and 31,1 g, its weight.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse there is a depiction of the Yaroslav the Wise, holding the legal code in his hand with two line inscriptions "ПРАВДА РУСЬСКАЯ" on the background of a mosaic depiction of Orante face (left) and a cathedral (right), as well the two lines conventionalized inscriptions: ЯРОСЛАВ / 1015 / МУДРИЙ / 1054 / and beneath, in two lines: КНЯЖА УКРАЇНА.
