The 125-th anniversary of Vahan Terian’s birth

This gold commemorate coin, issued by the Central Bank of Armenia,  is dedicated to the 125-th anniversary of Vahan Terian’s birth.
Vahan Terian (09.02.1885, Gandza – 07.01.1920, Orenburg) is an outstanding Armenian poet and public figure. He graduated from the Historical and Philological Department of the Moscow State University and Oriental Studies Department of the Petersburg University. His first collected poems (“Twilight Dreams”) were issued in 1908 in Tiflis. In 1912 he established the “Pantheon” printing house, which published his “Night and Reminiscences”, “Gold Tale”, “Return” and other poem cycles. Terian radically changed Armenian versification bringing Armenian poetic metre to exceptional perfection. By its fineness, purity and resplendence the Terian’s poetic language is the highest and absolute manifestation of the Armenian literary language.
