Holy Spirit Church in Rohatyn
The commemorative coin is dedicated to to an outstanding example of Ukrainian wooden temples of old types – Holy Spirit Church in Rohatyn (1598). Its iconostasis being now in a good state of preservation has extraordinarily high artistic value. The temple is a monument that has immortalized the talent of masters from Halychyna for architecture, carving and icon painting. Issued into circulation on September 29, 2009.
Obverse:
On the obverse above there are the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine and the semicircular legend: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); the conventionalized image of the 16th century icon of the temple - “Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles” - with the candelabra to the right and left thereof; below – the coin issue year 2009 and the face value 10 ГРИВЕНЬ (10 hryvnias).
Reverse:
On the reverse here is depicted the church with the legends: ЦЕРКВА/СВЯТОГО/ДУХА/XVI/СТ. (Church/of Holy/Spirit/XVI/century) above and РОГАТИН (Rohatyn) below, embowed.
