Vicentiy Khvoika

The coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Vicentiy V. Khvoika (1900-1993), an outstanding Ukrainian archeologist, the discoverer of Trypilska (4-2 centuries B.C.), Zarubynetska (3 century B.C.- 4 century A.D.) and Chernyakhivska (2-7 centuries A.D.) civilizations, as well as Scythian and Eastern-Slavic tombstones. He is one of the founders of  the Kyiv State Museum (now - the National  Museum of the History of Ukraine).
In circulation since March 29, 2000.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse at the center of concentric circles separated with solar marks there is the State Emblem of Ukraine framed with ceramic wares of Trypilska culture, discovered by Vicentiy V. Khvoika during his archeological investigations. On the coin there is a conventionalized four-line inscription: УКРАЇНА, 2000, ДВІ, ГРИВНІ.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse there is a depiction of the scientist's half-length portrait and the circular conventionalized inscriptions: ВІКЕНТІЙ ХВОЙКА and 1850-1914.
