Aquila Rapax

The commemorative coin is dedicated to the rare species of falcons which inhabits virgin Ukrainian steppe - Aquila Rapax, the largest number of birds are kept and bred in Askanya Nova Zoo. In 1980 Aquila Rapax has been listed in Red Book of Ukraine. In circulation since January 28, 1999.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse the Small State Emblem of Ukraine is surrounded by the garland combined from the images of selected species of Flora and Fauna. The inscriptions УКРАЇНА, 2, ГРИВНІ, 1999.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse there is the image of Aquila Rapax in Askanya steppe. Around the circumference, there are inscriptions: ОРЕЛ СТЕПОВИЙ and AQUILA RAPAX.
