Severyn Nalyvayko

The commemorative coin of 20 Hryvnias denomination is dedicated to the memory of Severyn Nalyvayko (? - 1597), leader of Cossack-peasant uprising of 1594-1596 in Ukraine against Polish domination. In circulation since January 26, 1998.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse in the middle of the beads circumference decoration, there is the composition  symbolizing the national idea of Unification of Ukraine: the emblematic figures of the Holy Michael Archistrategos, the patron of Kiev and  crowned lion of Galitch and Volhyn principalities hold the Small State Emblem of Ukraine-Trident on the shield. Over the composition,  there is the year of coin issue -1997. Above, around the coin external circumference there is an inscription: УКРАЇНА and - underneath in two line - 20 ГРИВЕНЬ, coin's face valueAll inscriptions are separated from one another with baroque ornaments and griffins depictions. At the left  from the figure 20 there are designations of Аg 925 and 31,1, coin's pure weight.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse at the center there is a depiction of Severyn Nalyvayko on a horse with a sword at his right hand and a torch at his left. Underneath and at the right, there are figures of armed insurgent people. At the left mat segment there is an inscription СЕВЕРИН НАЛИВАЙКО between the external edge and the beads semicircle. At the right mat segment there is a two line inscription 1594-1596 - years of uprising under Severyn Nalyvayko's leadership.
