Kyiv Contract Fair

The coin is dedicated to 200th anniversary of opening in Kyiv (in 1797) the Contract Fair - an important yearly event for commercial-trade and social-political life of Ukraine at the end of 18th - beginning of 20th centuries. In circulation since October 16, 1997.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine in the center of the composition made with conventionalized depictions of four crosswise located rolls of paper against a background of horizontal lines. On the rolls there are inscriptions: УКРАЇНА, above and 20 ГРИВЕНЬ, underneath in two lines; 1997, the year of coin issue - at the left and designations of Ag 925 and 31,1, coin's pure weight - at the right.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse in the center, there is a depiction of Kyiv City Council building, in which the first Contract Fair took place (from the drawing 'The Facade of the old Kyiv fortress" by M.Razhen (1775-1786). On the foreground, there is the Podil embankment from Dnipro side and a moored-two-mast ship. Above at the left,  there is a depiction of scales. Around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: КИЇВСЬКИЙ КОНТРАКТОВИЙ ЯРМАРОК - above and 200 РОКІВ - underneath.
