The Central Bank of Armenia issued two silver commemorative coins Vaals Labyrinth and Boston Labyrinth on December 26th 2016.

Vaals Labyrinth

The labyrinth is expression of spatial thinking since times immemorial. It demonstrates the mankind’s eternal efforts to salvation from the evil and to reaching perfection.
The Three Country Point Labyrinth is located in Vaals, the Netherlands, which serves a crossroad for the citizens of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. It was built in 1992 by British landscape designer and artist Adrian Fisher.

The frontline labyrinth constituted by 17000 hornbeam shrubs has been designed to have three extremal points, with lots of branched and spiral trails and water barriers, and in the middle of the maze, there is a tower-shaped platform opening a picturesque view of the surroundings. The Three Country Point Labyrinth is one of Europe’s most difficult.

It is a special location for many reasons. As the highest point of the Netherlands, town of Vaals has for nearly 200 years been a hub of economic relations for the surrounding areas. Here you can find peculiar borderline supports which served a contact zone of the neighboring countries for centuries.
The Three Country Point Labyrinth is an original symbol of international cooperation.

Boston Labyrinth

The labyrinth is expression of spatial thinking since times immemorial. It demonstrates the mankind’s eternal efforts to salvation from the evil and to reaching perfection.
The Armenian Heritage Park memorial opened in Boston, Massachusetts, the USA, in 2012. The architect is Donald Telalyan. The memorial comprises an abstract sculpture and a labyrinth.

The sculpture, a split dodecahedron, is dedicated to the memory of Armenian Genocide victims. It is symbolic of Armenians who were pulled apart from their country of origin. Annually, the sculpture is reconfigured as it reshapes the two halves into a new and different configuration, giving it the new spirit and idea of uniting the people scattered all over the world. At the center is a circular labyrinth, symbolizing the path of life of those Armenians who survived. Jetting on the sign of eternity a single wellspring marks labyrinth’s center, representing hope and rebirth.

The Armenian Heritage Park memorial is also generally recognized by other nations living in the USA as an expression of an idea of national identity and unity.
