The Hoopoe
Hoopoe is the only member of the family Upupidae. In Belarus this species can be found everywhere but most numerous in Polesye. The total bird population has decreased over the recent years, however its dynamics doesn’t currently allow to consider this type as vulnerable.
Obverse:
At the top there is a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – a small bird on the palms, below it on the right – year of issue, the fineness; inscriptions along the rim: at the top – «РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ», at the bottom – the face value «10 РУБЛЁЎ».
Reverse:
In the center there is a relief image of a hoopoe (it is recognized as a Bird of the Year in Belarus in 2013); inscriptions along the rim: on the right – «УДОД», on the left – «ПТУШКА ГОДА».
