The Treaty on Collective Security

This silver collector coin issued by the Central Bank of Armenia is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of signing of the Treaty on Collective Security (CST) and the 10th anniversary of the Organization of the Treaty on Collective Security (CSTO). CST was signed on May 15, 1992. Member countries include Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. One requirement of CST is that member countries shall put joint efforts to withstand and, where needed, to eliminate any military threats to their sovereignty and territorial integrity. In 2002 CST was restructured into CSTO with the main areas of responsibility such as member countries’ foreign policy coordination, military cooperation and arrangement of military equipment and withstanding today’s threats and challenges.
