Pond Turtle

Turtles are among the oldest vertebrates existing today. It is not without reason that many nations consider the turtle a symbol of longevity, stability and wisdom. The pond turtle is an aquatic animal; they often live in ponds, at the edges of lakes, and move from one water body to another. The pond turtle was included in the Red Data Book of Lithuania in 1976. In Dzūkija, (a region of Lithuania), pond turtles were named “iron frogs”.
