Karate (karate-do, “path of empty hand”) is a Japanese martial art. It has come to Japan from island Okinawa at the end of the 19th century and then expanded into all over the world. Karate has sports, applied and traditional directions in which numerous styles are practiced.

The “Kokh” silver coin has been issued by the Central Bank of Armenia under the international numismatic program “Art of Fighting”.Kokh is a wrestling style traditionally practiced in Armenia. An interesting feature which makes kokh distinctive is that wrestlers have to start with a national dance before the very fighting. Formerly, kokh was an integral part of national festivities, wedding parties and other entertainment events as it played an important role in cultural and educational context. Prominent wrestlers include Sadun Artsruni (13th century), Hakob Jughayetsi (17th century), Simon Pehlivoun, and Gagik. The coin issued with colored inks.
