Fatherhood

Fatherhood (Belarusian – бацькоўства, polish - ojcostwo) - blood relationship between a father and his child; fatherly feelings and attitudes toward their children. In the traditional culture of the Slavs man realized his father's function in the family. Only after the birth of his first child young man had the right to be called a man. It is under the influence of their father the masculine qualities are formed in sons: courage, agility, endurance, perseverance, determination, initiative, responsibility, respect for the mother and the woman, compassion for the weak, and their willingness to defend their dignity. For his daughter he represents a collection of masculinity to which she is guided in her further life. Father’s love, as opposed to infinite mother’s love, is demanding and is seeking justice. Today fathers all over the world have their own holiday: in Poland the Father's Day is celebrated on June 23, in Belarus and Russia is celebrated unofficially on the third (or second) Sunday of June.
