200 years of Kurmanjan Datka

Kurmanjan Datca or "Alai queen" is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Kyrgyzstan. She earned credibility, respect and popularity both among the local people and the neighboring countries thanks to her wisdom, foresight, diplomacy and experience. Her main political achievement - a "bloodless" annexation of the Alay Kyrgyz lands to the Russian Empire. Carl Gustaf Mannerheim was very impressed how the 95-year old Alai queen was gracefully riding a horse demonstrating her strong spirit and determined character.
