The Noah’s Ark 2012 1oz

According to the Old Testament the Ark was built by Noah at God’s command to save himself, his family and the world’s animals from the Great Flood. The Ark rested on the top of the Mountain Ararat (historical Western Armenia) and when the Flood ended Noah, his family and the animals left the Ark to repopulate the Earth.

Obverse: 
The obverse of the Noah’s Ark coin displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia along with the value of “500 DRAM” and the issuing year beneath it. The weight “1 Oz” and “Ag .999” are noted along the right and the hallmark LEV of the Leipziger Edelmetall Verarbeitung (Leipzig Precious Metals Factory) is on the left, all of this in encircled with the words “REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA” in both Armenian and English.
Reverse: 
Depicts Noah’s Ark floating upon the waters with the twin peaks of Ararat in the background, and a dove bearing an olive branch. The reference is to the great deluge that engulfed the world as described in the book of Genesis (Chapters7-8).
