Jupiter

The Solar System developed some 4.6 billion years ago. As early as in the antiquity astromers, watching the skies discerned small points moving between the stars. They called the objets wanderers, or planest. The names were given to honor the Roman gods: Jupiter - the King of Gods, Mars - the God of War, Mercury - the Messenger of Gods, Venus - the Goddess of Love and Beauty, Saturn - the Father of Jupiter and the God of Agriculture. Following the discovery of the telescope other planets were also spotted throughout the Solar System: Uranus (1781) and Neptune (1846).
