Silk Road

Investment golden coins "Silk Road", issued into circulation from the 19 February, 1996. Silk road is the name of great trade caravan road, which is known from the first centuries of our millennium, which existed till the XV century. During the periods of its active functioning Silk Road connected many countries: Rome, Vizantium, Arabian khalifats, India, Mongolia, China and along significant length it crossed Kazakhstan. Large quantities of various and exotic goods passed on the way of Silk Road. It played significant economic role in the development of these countries and also it was a conductor of culture and religious ideas.

Obverse: 
On the observe side of coins 16-angled ornamental rosette framing face value of coin is represented. At upper side there is the date "1995" indicating the year of coinage, and in the bottom side under the figures of face value there is the inscription "ТЕҢГЕ". There is a circle inscription "NATIONAL BANK OF KAZAKHSTAN". The weight of the coin is indicated in ounces. At the bottom there is the abbreviation of National Bank of Kazakhstan in Kazakh "K.Y.Б.".
Reverse: 
On the back side of coins in the center there is a conventionalized representation of shanyrak - frame of jurt, around which the representation of trade caravan of camels embodies Silk Road - the symbol of approach and relations of the countries, peoples and civilizations, allocated in the form of made circuit. Around the representation there is an inscription in Kazakh and English languages: "ЖІБЕК ЖОЛЫ. ҚАУЫШУ ЖОЛЫ... SILK ROAD. ROAD OF DIALOGUE".
