The obverse of the coin depicts a crown with "KINGS OF FOOTBALL" line, two lions guard it.
The reverse depicts a portrait of Mario Kempes with the coloured flag of Argentina on the background, a ball to the left from the portrait.

Mario Kempes (born 15 July, 1954) is a popular Argentinian football player, an outstanding forward. In 1973 he signed the first contract with “Instituto” (Argentina) football club. He played for “Rosario Central”, then for “Valensia” (Spain) and other football clubs. During his professional career he played 494 games and scored 276 goals. He represented Argentina in 1974, 1978 and 1982 World Cups with the award gained in 1978. In the same year Mario Kempes was recognized as a best football player of the South America.
