75 Years of Kyiv Academic Operetta Theatre
The coin is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Kyiv Academic Operetta Theatre. It successfully stages classical operettas, contemporary and classical musicals, embraces various creative experiments. The Operetta Theatre walls cherish the memory of outstanding personalities that created and fostered Ukrainian theatre art. Issued into circulation on November 30, 2009.
Obverse:
On the coin obverse there are: the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine (above), the semicircular legend: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), the coin face value and issue year 10/ГРИВЕНЬ/2009 (10 hryvnias) below, and in the centre – a dance scene against the dark background with conventionalized picture of light beams.
Reverse:
On the coin reverse there is depicted the theatre building façade together with silhouettes of operetta characters copied from old theatre bills (over the building) and the inscriptions КИЇВСЬКИЙ АКАДЕМІЧНИЙ ТЕАТР ОПЕРЕТИ (Kyiv academic theatre of operetta) (above, semicircular) and 75/РОКІВ (75/years) underneath
