Oleksiy Alchevsky

The coin is dedicated to 170th anniversary of Oleksiy Alchevsky (1835 – 1901), a Ukrainian  industrialist and a banker, a founder of a number of banks and industrial enterprises, in particular, "Kharkiv trade bank", the first in the city of Kharkiv and the second in Russia commercial credit bank, the first in Russia Land bank. He was also one of the founders of Agricultural Association. Two largest metallurgical works ( now they are Public Corporation Alchevsk metallurgical complex and PC Mariupil metallurgical complex named after Illich) have been built on his initiative. In circulation since December 26, 2005.

On the coin obverse a steam locomotive is depicted (as a symbol of the progress of the end of 19th c.) on the background of conventionalized waste banks' contours, blast-furnace and open-hearth shop; there are also depicted: the small State Emblem of Ukraine (left), circular inscription:  НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (above), 2005, the coin mintage year (beyond), 2 ГРИВНІ and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse a portrait of Oleksiy Alchevsky is depicted, under it there are semicircular inscriptions:1835 - ОЛЕКСІЙ АЛЧЕВСЬКИЙ - 1901
