Ulas Samchuk

The coin is dedicated to 100th anniversary of Ulas Samchuk, a Ukrainian writer  who was born in Derman village of Rivne region but created his works in foreign country. The personality of Ulas Samchuk is one of the most distinctive among Ukrainian prose writers of 20th century. He is the author of memoirs, trilogy novel "Volyn", story "Maria", plays "Listen, listen, Moscow speaking", " One can hear the noise of the Millstones", etc.

In circulation since January 26, 2005.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse  there is a composition, conventionalized like covers of the writer's first editions - books with  horsemen on their both sides. Above there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine, under it there is УКРАЇНА inscription, beneath – 2 ГРИВНІ 2005 and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse a portrait of Ulas Samchuk is depicted conventionalized like an engraving, right and left from which there are conventionalized flowers, beneath there are inscriptions: 1905-1987 УЛАС САМЧУК.
