Mykhailo Deregus

The coin is dedicated to 100th anniversary of Mykhailo Deregus (1904 – 1997), one of the brightest artists of 20th century.  Being a painter and a graphic artist, a pedagogue and a cultural worker, Mykhailo Deregus managed to combine skillfully a generalized national tradition with achievements of the world culture. Well-known are his paintings of the Cossacks themes, and namely: "Khmelnytsk land", "Pereyaslav Rada", " Thought on the Cossack Holota " triptych, etc. His artworks for the creations of Ivan Kotliarevsky, Taras Shevchenko, Lesia Ukrainka, M.Gogol and M.Nekrasov have become significant attainment of the graphic art.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse above the Small State Emblem of Ukraine is depicted, under it there is a three-lined inscription - УКРАЇНА 2 ГРИВНІ  and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine. There inscriptions are depicted on the background of a palette with two brushes (right), beneath - 2004, the coin mintage year.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse there is a profile portrait of Mykhailo Deregus and semicircular inscriptions: 1904 – 1997 МИХАЙЛО ДЕРЕГУС.
