Yuri Fedkovych

The coin is dedicated to 170th anniversary of Yuri Fedkovych (1834–1888), an innovative writer, a poet, an ethnographer, a specialist in folklore, a playwright and a public figure. Being a son of the Ukrainian Carpathian region, Yuri (Osyp) A.Fedkovych is a folk author, one of the pioneers of the national Renaissance in Bykovyna region.

Obverse: 
On the coin obverse a composition is depicted which personifies a patriotic, heroic and romantic trend in the creative work of Fedkovych: it is a horseman, who is holding a hatchet in his hand defending swallows from a bird of prey. To the left from the composition there is the coin mintage year: 2004, under which there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine; to the right there is a three-lined conventionalized inscription : УКРАЇНА and the coin face value: 2 ГРИВНІ.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Yuri Fedkovych, to the right from which an inscription  ЮРІЙ ФЕДЬКОВИЧ  and his years of life: 1834 - 1888 are depicted.
