On the coin obverse within a square there is an allegoric depiction of opening ceremony for Olympic Games two female figures dressed in tunics holding in their hands a bowl with a flame and laurel twigs - symbol of peace.Around the square there is a depiction of the small State Emblem of Ukraine and inscription: УКРАЇНА (above), 10 ГРИВЕНЬ (beneath), 2002 (to the left), Ag 925, designation of metal and 31,1, its pure weight, (to the right) and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse: 
On the coin reverse within a square there is a frontal depiction of a swimmer on the background of water. Around the square there are such inscriptions: ІГРИ/ XXVIII ОЛІМПІАДИ (above), OLYMPIC GAMES/ XXVIII ((beneath), АФІНИ 2004 (to the left), ATHENS 2004 (to the right).
