The 100th anniversary of the Baltic States 2 Euro Latvia 2018

1918 was a momentous year for the three Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania: all three countries freed themselves from foreign rule and founded independent states. Now, 100 years later, we have much more in common than just our history, as we are united by the European Union and the shared currency we use, the euro.

To mark the centenary of the Baltic States, Eesti Pank, Latvijas Banka and Lietuvos bankas decided to issue a €2 commemorative coin with the same design for all three countries.
The 100th anniversary of the Baltic States 2 Euro Latvia 2018
Obverse:
On the national side, the three Baltic States are symbolically represented as a braid. They are united by their history: a common past, present and future. The inscription of the country’s name and the year of issue (2018) are depicted in a semi-circle. The 12 stars are incorporated in the outer part of the design, set out as they are on the flag of the European Union.

Left from the centre face value: 2, on the right inscription EURO; in the background of the inscription a map of Europe; in the background of the map vertically six parallel lines ending on both sides with five-pointed stars. Initials LL below letter 'O' in EURO on the reverse.
