This commemorative coin is issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia is dedicated to the 5-th anniversary of introducing national currency in Armenia. Armenian national currency was put into circulation on 22 November,1993 based on Resolution N15 of 19 November, 1993 of the State Commission on regulation of money turnover. The basic monetary unit of Armenia is the dram, which is equal to 100 lumas. The design of the national banknotes are made by the well-known artists Hrachya Aslanyan and Ashout Manoukyan.
